The Department of Civil Engineering at the Guru Nanak Dev Polytehnic College Ludhiana (Formerly Guru Nanak Polytechnic College Ludhiana) is the oldest in the Punjab and is considered as the best in the North India for education in Civil Engineering. It was established on 1953.The trust Deed Was Registered On 24 February in the year 1953 with a commitment by Nankana Sahib Education Trust uplift the weaker sections of rural india by admitting 70% students every year from rural areas. Late sh. N.v. Gadgil, Ex-Governor of Punjab, Laid the foundation stone of the present building on 16 march 1959. The pass outs of the institution are present successfully employed in india and abroad. The department is producing several eminent engineers who are making notable contributions in the planning and execution of Civil Engineering projects in Indiaas well as abroad.The department offers a three-year course leading to the Diploma in Civil Engineering . The department has justifiably provided itself on the quality of its academic programmes and is keeping pace with the latest developments in engineering education..The faculty of the department continues to strive loftier by exploring new frontiers of knowledge, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students . The faculty also renders technical advice on live engineering problems to various agencies in the form of consultancy projects worth crores of rupees.
